7-DAY RETREAT WITH MEGHAN CURRIE | EXTRACT THE NECTAR | THE VISION

The Theme for this 7-day retreat, “Extract The Nectar” comes from the idea that there’s something nourishing to extract from every single moment of our lives. Even though, or especially when, what’s unfolding tastes bitter and hard to swallow, there’s always a lesson, something that we can convert, over time, into nutrition, growth, transformation, and wisdom.

The experiences of our lives can be seen as nectarous events. The nectar is the potent, nutrient-dense lessons, the takeaways, and the deep insights that lead us to the next step on the ladder of our personal and collective growth.

Etymologically, the word Nectar is derived from the Greek ‘nektar’, as a compound of ‘nek’, meaning death, and ‘tar’ or ‘tere’, meaning the ability to cross over, pass through, and overcome. This passing through or overcoming symbolizes a transformation of some kind, from one state of being to another.

“It takes a bee 10,000,000 trips to collect enough nectar to make 1 pound of honey.”

Sue Monk Kidd

Most flowers secrete relatively small amounts of nectar but produce more as the flower is visited by pollinators. As humans, converting nectar into honey can be a journey of a lifetime, and the more we seek out the nectar, being symbolic of growth, the more nectar is produced.

In this 7-day retreat, we’ll focus on intentional, nourishing, and playful movement practices that will open up the channels of inner exploration. Taking time to go inward, to source the intelligence from within, connect with new friends, rest, play, reset, and explore together.

“May you find in the nectar of life,
the sweetness of hope in your heart,
feel the comfort of song birds in your soul,
the grace of new wind in your wings.
Color your spirit with rainbows
and shower gold dust in your hair.

Time heals.
Life renews.
Dreams take flight again.
Close your eyes and drink it all in.”

Location

We are happy to welcome you to a yoga retreat center in Italy immersed in the magical beauty and nature of Salento where the sun is strong, the coastline is wild, the sea is crystal clear and the traditional local Pizzica music & dance are contagious.

Agricola Samadhi is a unique organic agritourism, an internationally acclaimed reference point in the field of ‘active’ wellness. It is a wellness escape to retreat, restore, renew, heal, recharge, disconnect from the outer world, and reconnect within.

YIS Yoga In Salento

SALENTO

Salento is that portion of Italian land where the West meets the East, a point of fusion among ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean; an earth to be discovered, kissed by the sun and by a crystalline sea. Salento is a coffer rich of inestimable treasures: medieval white stone villages built perpendicularly to the sea, innumerable evidences of ancient civilization, country churches, Romanesque Cathedrals, monumental Basilicas, “federician” castles, archaeological areas (dolmen, menhir), uncontaminated oases, millenary olive groves, park and sea reserves, splendid carsic caves, suggestive and unique “Trulli” houses, the Baroque art, sacred and pagan rites, local fairs, feasts, perfumes and tastes and the deliciousness of an authentic and genuine kitchen.

The organic farm Agricola Samadhi is surrounded by nature and silence, in the navel of Salento, Zollino, just 10 minutes from Lecce and 20 minutes far from the beautiful beaches and coves. The only sounds you can hear are the wind, the chirping of birds, and the sound of crickets. We are open all year round and the center is available for yoga teachers who wish to hold their retreats, workshops, and teacher training.

Agricola Samadhi is much more than a holiday, it is a journey within a journey, an existential experience, multisensory, energizing, and relaxing. It is both the proposal and the practice of a lifestyle in which the priority is finding yourself, doing good to yourself, sharing with others, experimenting with the practice of yoga and other techniques the lost connection between the body, mind, and heart.

ROOMS

The farmhouse has areas dedicated to yoga courses and sessions: the beautiful yoga rooms are found in the 19th-century farmhouse: with high ceilings made from stone from Lecce, parquet flooring that is heated in winter, and large windows letting in lots of light and offering views of the green park.

Agricola Samadhi è mixing tradition and innovation both with its offerings and form: two elegant antique buildings from the early 20th century are near recently renovated buildings, surrounded by a green park, immersed in the sound of the wind between the magnificent fronds of the palms and the song of the birds and the hum of the cicadas.

Decide whether to relax along the edge of our large, fresh pool, enjoy an Ayurvedic treatment, a Thai or Shiatzu massage, enjoy the wind caressing the fronds of the palms as you relax in a hammock, walk the 10 hectares of the property, or go discover Salento: there’s time for nature walks, artistic excursions, trekking, bicycle tours, horseback riding, and sails!

ABOUT MEGHAN CURRIE

Meghan Currie is a well-known yoga instructor with 20 years of experience in practicing yoga and 10 years of experience in teaching around the world. Her classes focus on breath-based movement techniques to help connect the mind and body. She also incorporates creativity and playfulness into her classes to encourage self-expression.

Meghan’s yoga style is an unexpected blend of strong and playful. Her movement is intuitive, dance-like, slow fluid style that uses breath awareness to deepen one’s connections somatically. Embodying curiosity, complexity, and whimsy to inject lighthearted deliciousness into sequences that are oftentimes quite physically challenging. The emphasis on breath creates
a depth of bodily experience and a fluid meditative state that helps focus and still the mind while opening, aligning, and toning the body.

Like any recipe, she believes there must be just the right amount of all the ingredients to produce the most epic flavor. When she teaches, she mixes herself with all other unpredictable and delicious ingredients to co-create with the universe and be a part of something grand. In her practice, awareness is consciously anchored in somatic experiencing from moment to moment as this enables everything to be felt fully and processed as it comes up. The outcome is growth, not only in physical strength but also emotionally and mentally. The intention above all is embracing all the diverse aspects of oneself. Meghan regularly tours around the globe teaching yoga workshops, retreats, and festivals. She believes that every student is also everyone’s teacher.
